Har Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band

Har is a five piece band from Tel Aviv, Israhell. It started back a couple of years ago as a three piece with the intention of playing raw Black Metal written intuitively and live as opposed to a more calculated approach to writing. Yet as time went on it sort of grew on us and all sort of influences and approaches are creeping in to the process. So the next pieces will have their own twist.

2.A year ago you had released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

It’s exactly as been said in the previous answer, raw and live black metal, straightforward, no build-ups and smartass bullshit to mitigate the attack. Yet there is a constant dimension of occultism to it that rule over the whole thing and set the mood. A dimension that grows larger as we work on new material.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

It draws from various sceneries that all go back to the same theme of a desire to become one with void and purification from human reality through trance fueled rituals and sacrifice.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Har'?

HAR means “mountain” in Hebrew, our mother language, which has all sorts of transcendental, mystical and ritual connotations in almost every culture. In itself a mountain’s sublime object: too big to grasp it visually in one shot, distanced and close to the sky. It’s the locus of demonic and spiritual rituals of sacrifice, whether in the Old Testament or in the ancient Mayan culture and it’s also the site for pilgrimage, so it is strongly linked to a desire for a higher state of being.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We hadn’t had more than few so far and it feels like every show is better. The best for us performance and mood wise is probably one we played in a tiny basement with crappy sound and no airco in Jerusalem in the middle of a strictly orthodox Jews neighborhood. The best way to describe our shows at the moment is probably as no bullshit plug and play that turns into an acoustic trancy ritual.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

There are some shows coming up in Israel and we do plan on touring Europe sometime in 2016. We’ll update as soon as we have something concrete.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

There’s a planned release on vinyl and cassette pretty soon if all goes by the plan, but we are still open to offers.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

There’s some good feedback coming from all over the place, be it from people involved in the music or just metal fans, which is great and we hope to get more exposure toward the release.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part off?

There are three bands that are played by HAR members, Mortus Umbra, SheenDaled and Kessef. You can check them on Facebook and Bandcamp.

10.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Right now we aim more towards another E.P to be recorded in the coming months. It has been a long time since writing the first one and the next one will be the product of re-alignment of our ideas and moods.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We are five individuals so it is quite diverse but it also overlaps. There’s a lot of old school Darkthrone to Tangorodim, Hellhammer and also Von, abigor all the way to bands like Bestial Warlust. Virus and ved buens ende been played quite a lot but also bands like Negative Plane, Vomitor, Portal. Lots of stuff also non metal

12.How would you describe your views on Occultism?

A gateway out of an over rational, secular, skeptic and complex ridden Pathetic existence.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
