Crest Of Darkness/In The Presence Of Death/My Kingdom Music/2013 CD Review

Crest  Of  Darkness  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  a  very  melodic,  raw  and  primitive  form  of  evil  Norwegian  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2013  album  "In  The  Presence  Of  Death"  which  was  released  by  My  Kingdom  Music.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars,  as  for  the  synths  when  they  are  utilized  they  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  Norwegian  style  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  melodic,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  a  great  amount  of  thrash  influences  being  thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  when t hey  are  utilized  are  very  melodic  sounding heavy  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  which  are  only  used  on  the  last  song  they  use  finger  picking  to  enhance  the  darkness  that  is  coming  out  of  the  music.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  with  some  deep  growls  and  spoken  word  parts  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  evil,  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Crest  Of  Darkness  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic,  raw  and  primitive  evil  Norwegian  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre, you  should c heck  out  this recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Demon  Child"  "The  Priest  From  Hell"  "Welcome  To My  Funeral"  and  "Vampire  Dreams".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
