Feos/Kastastisa/2008 EP Review

Feos are a 1 man band from an unknown location that plays a very dark ambient form of shoegaze black metal and this is a review of their self released 2008 ep "Kastastisa".

Drum programming are all slow , mid paced to fast beats, while the synths bring a very dark ambient, experimental and atmospheric feeling to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful tone with shoegaze style riffing that dominates throughout the recording.

Rhythm guitars are all slow to midpaced ambient/post black metal riffs that utilize some infliences from shoegaze in the melodies mixed in with alot of distorted parts and there are no guitar solos or leads present on the recording, as for the acoustic guitars to use full chords and finger picking to enhance the melancholy of the music.

Vocals when they are utilized are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some clean singing middle eastern parts with a brief spoken word part while the lyrics are written in a Middle Eastern langauge, as for the production it has a very, dark and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Feos are a decent sounding shoegaze black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Mja Orea Betalu" and "Wathis Ipnos". RECOMMENDED BUY.
